How to build an outsourcing transition risk register

A practical risk register for documentation, access, capacity, data, quality, customer impact, dependency and change during transition.

Describe risks as cause, event and impact

Avoid vague entries such as training risk. Write what may cause the problem, what could happen and the operational or customer impact. This makes controls and owners easier to assign.

Cover the full transition system

Review process knowledge, access, data handling, staffing, systems, third parties, client decisions, customer communication and peak volumes. Include risks created by doing too much at once.

  • Likelihood and impact
  • Preventive control
  • Contingency action
  • Named risk owner
  • Trigger and review date

Use the register during the pilot

Review risks in transition meetings and update them when real issues appear. Close a risk only when the control is operating, not merely because a document has been written.

The register should help the team make choices about sequencing, testing and readiness. It is not useful when it becomes a long list separated from daily delivery.

Tell us which part of your operation needs more capacity.

Share your current workload, business objective or service challenge. We will review the requirement and propose an appropriate delivery structure.
